Research Assistant- NTRC Department

Job Purpose:

Research Assistant at NTRC is tasked with supporting research by assisting in laboratory analysis, quality control, data management across various scientific disciplines including Chemistry, Physics and Materials Science.

The role demands a high level of technical proficiency to process and interpret complex data, maintain laboratory equipment, and contribute to research publications and presentations.

 

Job Responsibilities:

X-ray:

- Interpreting XRD patterns, identify phases, and determine crystal structures.

- Troubleshooting XRD equipment and experimental issues.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM):

- Knowledge of various sample preparation methods (sputter coating, conductive tape, freeze-drying).

- Ability to operate SEM equipment effectively, capture high-quality images, and utilize image analysis software for data interpretation.

Raman Spectroscopy:

- Understanding of Raman scattering principles (Stokes and anti-Stokes Raman shifts, resonance Raman)

- Proficiency in processing Raman spectra, peak identification, and spectral fitting.

Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR):

- Knowledge of FTIR sampling techniques (ATR, transmission, reflectance).

Electrospinning:

- Operating and maintaining electrospinning equipment (power supplies, syringe pumps, collection systems).

- Skill in preparing polymer solutions or suspensions for electrospinning.

- Knowledge of techniques for further processing electrospun fibers (annealing, crosslinking, coating).

 

Job Requirements:

Desired:

- M.Sc. in Chemistry/ Physics / Materials Science/Solid State Physics/Pharmaceutical Sciences

- At least two publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred:

- Ph.D. Candidate enrolled in a program related to the following fields: in Chemistry/ Physics / Materials Science/Solid State Physics/Pharmaceutical Sciences.

- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using statistical software and bioinformatics tools.

 

Desired:

- Participated in previous research projects.

- Active engagement in scientific communities through social media platforms.

- Experience with Raman instrument alignment, calibration, and troubleshooting.

- Having experience in producing electro spun fibers with desired properties (diameter, morphology, alignment).

- Experience with spectral interpretation, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and data processing software.

- Knowledge of laser sources, detectors, sample handling, and data acquisition systems.

- Familiar with FTIR instrumentation, including sample preparation, data acquisition, and analysis.

- Practical experience in producing electrospun fibers with desired properties (diameter, morphology, alignment).

- Experience with Raman instrument alignment, calibration, and troubleshooting.

- At least 1 year of experience.

 

Technical Skills:

- Writing and securing research grants.

- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.

X-Ray:

- Strong theoretical understanding of XRD principles and practical experience operating XRD equipment.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM):

- Applying strong theoretical foundation in SEM, including electron optics, image formation, and signal generation.

- Understanding of complementary techniques like EDX, EBSD, and WDS is a plus.

Ramen Spectroscopy:

- Understanding of Raman scattering principles (Stokes and anti-Stokes Raman shifts, resonance Raman).
